About ARCH
ARCH's Mission Statement To
advocate for, develop, or provide resources for children, teens and
young adults with autism spectrum disorders and those who support them
in the Upper Valley of NH and VT and the surrounding area.
˘Adopted by the founding families of ARCH, 2004
ARCH was established in the spring of 2004 by a small group of
parents, all of whom have a child with a diagnosis on the autism
spectrum. Aware of the many resources available to families in more
urban areas, these parents set out to raise the standard of care for
those with autism and related disabilities living in Northern New
England. |

| ARCH provides resources and support to any individual who has, or is
suspected to have, an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or a brain anomaly
that presents with autistic behaviors and the family that supports that
individual. In the course of advocating for families, ARCH also
recognizes the need to assist and partner with a wide range of
professional colleagues by promoting, designing or implementing
training opportunities in both specific treatment modalities and in the
delivery of family-centered, collaborative models of care.
While
ARCH specifically targets services toward the families and individuals
who live in the bi-state region known as the Upper Valley, we also seek
opportunities to advance high quality care throughout New Hampshire and
Vermont. |

| Who Does ARCH Serve?
Our Goal
ARCH's goal is to
build upon the vision and recommendations of the National Research
Council in its land-mark study, Educating Children with Autism (2002):
Namely, to create a multi-service, regional autism collaborative that
brings together the educational, clinical and support services needed
by individuals on the autism spectrum and the families that support
them. |

Today virtually everyone knows, or knows about, someone whose live has been touched by autism. Because the Upper Valley has such a strong commitment to high-quality education and medical services - especially for children - I'm confident that we can meet this public health challenge and play a leadership role in demonstrating that rural areas can provide best-practice interventions.
